Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 2026
At CoreTime, we believe that your digital life is yours alone. We built this tool to help you reclaim your focus, not to harvest your data. This Privacy Policy outlines what information we collect, how it gets used, and why your data is safe with us.
1. Information We Collect
CoreTime requires specific browser permissions to perform its core functions (blocking sites and tracking your active tab time). However, we are completely committed to a local-first architecture.
Information Stored Locally:
- Browsing Data: To determine if you are on a distracting website (e.g., YouTube, X/Twitter), CoreTime reads the URL of your active tab. This data is processed in real-time within your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.
- Analytics & Time Tracking: The time you spend on applications and your heatmap data are stored securely in your browser's local storage (`chrome.storage.local`).
- User Settings: Your work schedules, blocklists, platform focus settings, and aesthetic preferences are also saved locally.
2. How We Route Your Data (Chrome Sync)
If you have Chrome Sync enabled in your browser settings, Google will automatically securely sync your CoreTime configuration (work schedules, settings) across your logged-in devices using `chrome.storage.sync`. We do not have access to this data pipeline; it is encrypted and handled entirely by Google Chrome.
3. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. Our business model relies on building a premium productivity tool, not acting as a data broker.
4. Changes to This Policy
As we add new features (like upcoming AI integrations for smarter blocking strategies), we may update this Privacy Policy. Any updates will explicitly detail if they require changes in how we handle data locally vs. externally.
